Hi folks,
I'm new to this thread, and it may well have been asked before (please refer me to it), but I want to buy a new Hyosung 250 Mirage, in Kwangju. I live 2 hours south of there, and was told that because it's an oil cooled bike, it isn't suited for that kind of road trip to where I live. I was told (by a Daelim dealer shop) that water cooled is really the only way to go for such a trip. Sure like to hear some opinions about that.
Thanks! |

I think you mean water cooled and air cooled. I had a honda a few years ago and the water cooling worked fine. If you are just taking it home it shouldn't be a hassle. the air cooling system just has trouble on really hot days I thought. anyway the weather is getting cooler. maybe just try taking the old roads and you'll have a better ride.
If it is a long ride just take breaks and give yourself some time to rest the bike. anyway I guess the main problem would be running it at high speeds for a prolonged time if it isn't really a highway bike. |

Thanks for the feedback! I might have misheard the Korean pronunciation for air/oil. |

Oil cooled = air cooled...
In other words - no radiator.
Water cooled bikes can control the temperature of the engine better and are more reliable.
Oil cooled (because the internal oil does the cooling?) bikes are usually fine, but if you run them near max for a long time, you'll have overheating problems. If you do a long trip on an oil-cooled bike, stopping every once in a while to let the bike cool down a bit (or coasting down hills, etc) will help keep the temps in check. |
