I'm bringing my PS3 with me to Korea and I had a few questions for people that have done the same thing.
What kind of converter should I use, like how much wattage do I need? I found this one on playasia.com: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-zr-49-en-70-1pnk.html
I know PS3 games are region free, what about Blu-Ray movies?
Is there a good selection of PS3 games in Korea? Are they in English?
Any other issues I should be aware of? |

You can get one of the travel converters, or buy a little transformer here in Korea (which is what I did). Basically if you want Full English PS3 games, get it online from play-asia, but if you don't mind some games that have both English and Korean, there's are quite a few games here that you can get. Most of the western games that get Korean localization will have English options, but some do not, so you have to make sure before you buy. Blu-Ray movies are NOT Region free, so any Blu-ray movies you get here, you can't play it on the PS3 since the American Region is 1 and in S. Korea, it's 3.
edit: you can buy the transformer here in Korea instead of play-asia. when you get here, so you don't have to waste space in your luggage for the transformer (converter).
Other than that, make sure you bring your AV cables and hdmi cable just in case the t.v they provide you doesn't have hdmi (that was the case for me, but then I went and bought a hdtv). Make sure when you pack the PS3 in your luggage that you have lots of padding unless you are taking it with you on the plane as a carry on. |

Let me make this easy for you - you don't need a converter. All you need is the power cord that runs from the back of the PS3 to the wall. Trust me, I did this myself, and my American PS3 is running just fine. The cord you need (the same for any computer) is like $2.
Yes, I realize the outside says the voltage is only 120, but the transformer on the inside is marked as dual voltage. Even so, I was sweating and getting ready for the thing to explode when I plugged it in and turned it on, but it worked just fine.
Same games, sometimes the boxes are in Korean, but the game is English. One notable exception is the new Call of Duty, which my friend wanted, and he and I wandered around Yongsan for like and hour looking for one that was in English (the game, not the box).
