|
|
I am currently completing a 60 hour online TEFL and am then hoping to go to South Korea to start a career teaching. I love travelling, have always wanted to live abroad and I want to be a teacher, so a TEFL career sounds perfect for me. However my girlfriend, who wants to come with me, is not interested in teaching and does not have any Korean language skills.
Is it at all practical for us to embark on this adventure or would it be pretty impossible to get a non teaching job in Korea for a non Korean speaking person?
Any help or suggestions would be extremely welcomed!!! |

You say "partner": if you mean you are not (yet) married, then she would be on her own visa.
It is possible, depends what she does: there are a few slots in banking, HSBC, Standard Chartered for example. If she's an engineer, it would be easy, especially if in some specialisation like railway signalling or electronics.
As I say, as your partner, she could not have a residence permit on the back of yours. Evene if she did, that would be a residence permit, not a work permit. If she got her own job, she would get her own visa.
It could be done, but might be a challenge. All depends on her job. |

Try to some how bump your 60 hour online course to 100 -120 hours. Maybe add more optional units. A lot of places really look down on a sixty hour course |

Wangja is correct. If your girlfriend has a special skill then there is a chance for a job. For that to happen, the employer has to demonstrate to Immigration that a Korean cannot be found who could do the job. Your girlfriend might find something in editing if nothing else is available for her skills. |

They are rare, but I have seen a few over the years. Not on there, though. There was on a few months back looking for a foreigner to help at some World Puppy Pet Land/amusement park or something. I thought it sounded like they would have to get you some type of entertainment visa to do it, and couldn't figure out how that could be done easily or legally -- but who knows.
Here was a link to the place. The job was posted in march, though. It's in Bucheon, which is maybe 45 mins outside of Seoul? I forget how long, actually:
