For years the Bugak "skyway" - a rather scenic road following some ridgelines around northern Seoul near Cheongwadae (the Blue House) - was closed to cyclists, even though cars and pedestrians were allowed to use the street freely. From what I know entrance to the road was restricted because its close proximity to the Blue House meant authorities feared it might be used for access by North Korean infiltrators. Why they banned bikes but stilled allowed cars along there I don't know. Perhaps they thought anyone on a bike is a pinko commie treehugger Very Happy . I got stopped by the military police a couple of times up there, which was a bit frustrating when cars could come and go freely.

Anyway, I've heard the road is now open to cyclists too. Can anyone confirm this? Has anyone been biking up there?

It was/is banned for motorcycles too. If anyone has an update, please share! I'd love to take the bike up there.

I go up there all the time on my motorcycle. There are no signs and the police and soldiers up there certainly don't say anything. I see bicyclists up there all the time, too.

Thanks for confirming that. It's a nice ride. I'm really happy they've opened it up.
