|
|
As I'm currently working towards finishing my PhD dissertation, and I'll be formally throwing myself into the academic job market soon, the ad from Korea Maritime University (Busan: http://www.eslcafe.com/jobs/korea/index.cgi?read=38297 ) caught my eye. I was wondering if anyone on this forum had had any direct experience with that university, and, if so, how was it? Given the less-than-perfect track record of treatment of foreign academics, and sometimes shady employment practices by SOME Korean universities (i.e., paying foreign professors less than their native equivalents, and sometimes demoting foreign academics to "lecturer" status once they arrive in the country), has anyone heard anything which would indicate whether or not the terms of the posted job ad are on the level? Would pay and benefits be comparable to that of native faculty?
Thanks for any help you can offer! |

I don't believe he is applying at the hogwon. Where could they hide this school on campus? It's just a small island.
OP-You've been PM'd |

And, how can it be on campus with that name and it is without their consent? Letting it exist is consent. More than a bit fishy.
Hey. maritime..... fishy... I made a funny
PS: After I received my PhD in 1998 I applied to them. Never heard back.
