|

Hi,
As my last post was kindly deleted with absolutely no notice (I'm guessing simply because Hong Kong was in the title), could I please ask again for some advice on teaching privates. I'm currently in Korea teaching English so this is perfectly appropriate in this forum.
How do you guys do privates? Do you use textbooks or your own material primarily?
Are there any challenges specific to one on one sessions? How do you replace not having a whiteboard and other equipment (pieces of paper?)
What are the major differences in teaching style?
I've never taught one on one before and I want to do a good job for my clients.
This will be perfectly legal and won't be in Korea (I'm currently here but moving to hong kong.)
Thanks. |

This is generally an AFEK issue here in Korea, you can ask there. Also, I don't do one-on-ones without a specific goal in mind (and no, "speak better English" is not an adequate goal). An example of this is "I'm going to study in Chicago for a year and I need you to teach my son how to survive in the US. He's 13."
That would be one I would take, if my boss offered it to me. |
