I've been experimenting with both of these on my ipod touch. Daum maps is far superior to the naver maps. Daum includes bus stops and even has mobile road view. However naver has one thing they lack, being able to place a pin anywhere on the map without knowing the name of a building, etc.
In daum if you want to set your starting point, I can't seem to find a way to place a pin anywhere other than searching for the name of a business, subway station, intersection, etc.
However naver lacks any bus directions only driving directions.
If you use Daum's mobile app to find bus directions when you're on the go be aware that they only provide "least transfer" results. From nowon to hannam it shows 63 minutes, however with an extra transfer you can cut that down to 47 minutes according to the bus site. Google is useless in korea, its got fancy maps and everything, but I can never get it to give me directions.
I know there are some subway apps there, but are there any other bus apps to give you bus directions on the go? |

I think the bus database is just so massive that its hard to get it all down. Also, consider the fact that bus routes are always being changed.
I really wish there was an option out there to pick the best routes based on "time", and not on distance or transfers.
The shortest distance doesn't always mean shortest times. I live in Gangnam and many of the bus routes that are suggested are buses that go through Gangnam, station/kyobo tower. That has to be one of the busiest streets in Korea. Another bus that goes around that area is a longer distance, but much shorter in time.
Sure, in theory it only takes 3 minutes to go from Gangnam station to Kyobo Tower bus stop, but in reality its more like 15 minutes. |

Do you have to know Hangul to use those Korean Maps, or is their an English option? |

I'm not in Korea quite yet...but it appears Google maps has bus routes too. Give it a try and tell me what you think, I'd like to know what's the best as well. |

I couldn't get google to give me directions let alone even get to bus routes. It didn't matter where I chose, it claimed it couldn't find a route.

On the touch? yeah, but its trivial to learn .
It'd take you 2 weeks at the most. |
