Hi there everybody,

I need help and know that someone here will have a great answer for me Smile

I want to come to SK to teach in or around the Busan area. I wanted to teach in a public school, but I know I missed the deadline for this. Are there any reputable hagwons around the Busan area (even in a smaller town within a commutable distance to Busan)? Do reputable hagwons even exist? The main concern I have with hagwons is that they seem to be constantly jerking their staff around...I read these boards frequently. I need to get paid on time as does everyone else. I have a mortgage to pay in Canada and I don't want to sell my house to come here as I'm not sure if I'll stay past the year. I have the bare minimum uni degree and have experience teaching esl in Canada.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Kristen

Keep in mind that the rants that people post on here do not necessarily represent all hagwons, when people have a problem in Korea they come to this board to ***** about it! If everything is going well at someone's hagwon there is nothing to post about. Just keep that in mind, also there are downsides to Public Schools as well.

Hey - I've spent the last year working at SLP (Sogang Language Program) in Haeundae. While they definitely jerk their teachers around and are generally disorganized, as well as cater solely to the rich paying moms, [u]they DO pay consistently and on time each month. I'm not saying I recommend working there, I'm happy to be leaving soon, but if you're looking for consistent pay that you don't have to fight for, SLP can do at least that.

Overall Busan and other high-demand areas (for teachers) means that schools can generally be tougher bosses since it's fairly easy to find replacement teachers.
