So, I need to fly from Incheon to kaohsiung airport in Taiwan. It seems that most flights to Taiwan go to Taoyuan. Anyone ever fly here that can help me out? :/

I lived in Taiwan for a year. I wouldn't bother flying directly to Kaohsiung, as the flights are almost certainly more expensive than those going to Taoyuan. My advice? Fly into Taoyuan, take the shuttle from the airport to the HSR station (I think it's something like 30NT), then take the HSR from Taoyuan to Kaohsiung (Zuoying station). It takes about an hour and a half and costs 1,250 NT or so.

I also recommend doing this.

Taiwan is tiny. Just fly to Taoyuan.

about 2 years ago I flew to Kaohsiung from Incheon it was pretty much the same price as Taipei at the time I think I paid around 300,000 won round trip with Uni-Air (a subsiduary of Eva-Air).

If you're having issues paying, why not just go to a travel agent and pay cash or by bank transfer (I used Xanadu.co.kr for that trip, even if they ripped me off, I still think it was dirt cheap)

I might try Xanadu then. I was just going to see if the friend Im visiting will pay and then I pay him back, maybe easier to use Xanadu though.

It looks like I will have to fly into Taoyuan anyway. Is that bus to Kaohsiung hard to find for us crazy English speakers? Smile

HSR is way faster than the bus. It's quite far from Taoyuan to Kaohsiung.

Yeah, you could probably save some time and just get a bus to Hsinchu and catch the HSR there.

Eh, I don't think so. The shuttle from the airport to the HSR station in Taoyuan is only 15 min or so. Having lived in Hsinchu, I can tell you that the drive from the airport to the HSR station there (it's actually in Jhubei) is closer to 45 min or an hour, depending on traffic. Even factoring in the difference in time you'd save on the HSR (the trip from Taoyuan to Hsinchu is 10 min), it's really not worth the extra effort.

Just take the HSR from Taoyuan. There are English signs all over the airport and the HSR station, so you don't have to worry about getting lost.

I misread and didn't realize there was a Taoyuan HSR station. I was assuming the OP was being told to head to Taipei and take the HSR from there, which would be a serious hassle.

No worries. Smile The Taoyuan station is easy to miss since it's out in the middle of bloody nowhere.
