|
|
I am wondering whether I should buy a decent supply of books before going to Korea because I am uncertain whether they have books in english at the libraries?
Do most libraries in Seoul have english books or is it a rarity?
And if they do, do they have many books in english or just a few certain ones? |

Unless you have a favorite book, don't bring any with you. The larger bookstores (Kyobo, Bandi and Luni's) have an extensive selection. Smaller bookstores usually have a small English section as well. There's also WhatTheBook in Itaewon for new, used, magazines, and special orders.
Edit: The libraries here have a decent selection of English books. |

My wife and I spend 300,000 won on books every month.
I would recommend you bring a small supply of books. Go to your local used bookstores and get about 10 to 15 books. I think you'll get some great deals there.
Here is an example purchase for you to consider:
Put your Dream to the Test (Hard cover) by Maxwell.
Amazon.com $35.95
34.95 USD = 44,322.18 KRW
Kyobo Bookstore 41,720 won

I figured I could buy books, but I am curious if the libraries in Seoul will have most of the titles I am looking for because I prefer a free read verses paid |

For general books leave at home and save the luggage room for some Mac and Cheese boxes.
The more unique the book the more likely you will want to take. John Grisham- leave. Some old book of poetry done by a local artist - take.
Text books if you are going to study - get now and take, as getting them in Korea can be very hard and at times EXPENSIVE. |
