Hiya
My husband and i just arrived in Youngin - both teaching at public schools
I'm wondering whether anyone knows where we might get cloths that go up to more 'western' sizes!
Shoes are our main concern - he is male GB size 10 i am female GB size 8
any ideas?
cheers

| I have a hard time believing you can't find a size ten. That's not that big. For shoes, check out Dongdaemun if you come up to Seoul. Tons of shoe stores. |

And I guess Athlete's Foot (haha) stores go up to like 13, and some places like Kim's Club sell sneakers for W10 000. Or, you could just get shoes made next to the road. You might want to try G-Market (online store), but that's too inconvenient.
For clothes, you might find something at American Apparel. There's more than 3 branches in Seoul, and you can shop online, although I don't trust the maps they have of the outlets. Rather ask someone who has been there for directions than following the maps. And if you wear clothes bigger than 100cm (size 40ish -which I don't think you are), there's a nice little shop on Seoul subway line 3, close to Honjae. If you're desperate, the smallest will fit any Western body better than the biggest Korean size will.
I haven't found size 8 or 9 heels at all yet! So annoying! I have to walk around in sneakers/trainers or squeeze into a size 6 heel!! |

UK size 10 for men should be no problem - my boyfriend is a 10 and buys shoes easily.
I'm a UK 6 which works out around 245/250 Korean which tends to be the biggest most shoe shops stock. Emart has a small range of "Big Size" shoes but they're pretty ugly....
I'd suggest Zara (big one in Coex mall at Samseung station) for heels/dressy shoes and Muji (there's one I know of in Lotte Mart at Jamsil and in Lotte Myeongdong) for ballet pumps/ flats. Another option is to ask a shop to order in the size you want - most seem to have access to larger sizes, just don't stock them.
Itaewon I guess also has shoe shops for western sized feet but I don't know of anywhere in particular. |
