Hi oaknutters,

You will not need a converter, simply a plug adapter as the power adapter that you already use with your MacBook Pro is rated for 100-240V and as such will work worldwide. For $39 you can get the Apple World Travel Adapter Kit: -

http://store.apple.com/us/product/M8794G/B?mco=NDcwNDQ4OA

But for much less a simple US to Korean plug adapter will do the job.

Dan.

kind of still on topic, but is it useful to buy them before landing or are they abundantly available over there?

i'm leaving in a week-ish, but haven't gone searching for one here yet. the only electronics i'm bringing are my macbook and camera charger, both of which only need adapters.

They are available here if you know where to go and how to get there.
In other words, it would be easier for a newb to buy it back home and bring it over.

What if I am to bring my PS3 from the US to Korea? Would I need more than a simple plug adapter?

Check the voltage on it. If it is 110v you will need a Step-down Converter.
220v to 110v.
