Hello,

A friend of mine wants to work in Korea. She's originally from Sweden but moved to England about 4 years ago to go to university. She successfully got a 2:1 in Anthropology, taught completely in English as like any normal degree. She probably speaks, writes and reads better English than me and I'm native English!

Unfortunately she's having trouble applying. Does anyone know what she could do? Her degree has got to count for something right?

Any help would be great Very Happy

Two quick and easy questions

Does she have a passport from one of the seven?

Is her degree from one of the seven?

If no to either then she is out of luck. Sorry.

The seven: England, Ireland, Canada, America, Australia, South Africa, NZ

Her degree is from England but I think she has a Swedish passport.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Actually, does anyone know what countries she would be able to work as an English teacher in?

Anywhere in the EU. Eastern Europe could be a blast.

If your friend has had 10 years in the British (or one of the seven countries) educational system then she can apply for a E2 or so I have been led to believe.

I bet she could swing working for a hagwon if she was a proper looker! She might not get her status legalised but if she looks the part and can do the job she will be treated like gold dust.

She could get legal work in China and probably Thailand. She'll certainly get legal work in Asia in quite a few countries if thats what she wants!
