do you have an international check card??

I have one from KEB...I can use it ONLY at international ATMs and not for purchasing...

it would be an efficient way of getting HKD but not necessarily the cheapest....

good luck

Why pay 2 sets of commission? Just buy HKD at Incheon airport and you're sorted.

PS. For buying most currencies with won, it's recommended that you first buy a major currency (such as USD/Euro) and then change that currency when you arrive in your destination. However HKD is not one of those currencies and you can get very fair rates in Korea. Same applies to selling HKD in Korea. (Don't bring your won to HK though!)

The exchange rate for buying Hkd in a Korean airport will not be good. So it is cheaper to double exchange the money, otherwise I would not have mentioned it.

Read what I said above... HKD is one of the few exceptions where you can buy at a decent rate at the airport. (or even better, at the bank). All the money I send "home" goes to HK. In order of cheapest price.
1. Buy HKD at the bank.
2. Buy HKD at Incheon.
3. Buy USD at the bank and buy HKD in HK.
4. Buy USD at the Incheon and buy HKD in HK.
5. Buy Thai baht at the bank, buy NZ dollars at Incheon, buy HKD in HK.

Note, Incheon airport offers a very good rate and the savings by going to the bank very marginal.
