Hi,

We have a summer vacation from 29th Jul to 2nd Aug, and new to Korea.
Would either like to check out some of the islands, or maybe rent a cabin somewhere in the mountains. Basically something as relaxing as possible at the time of year everyone else takes their vacation.
Does anyone have any suggestions they can help us out with? Jeju is looking fully booked.

Thanks!

There are some good islands, tho I've only been to a few. Deokjeokdo in Incheon is popular, tho most people go there to drink/party on the beach I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for.

Down by Mokpo there are dozens of islands to check out, but they're not exactly foreigner friendly. They would likely be quiet/relaxing tho.

Five days. Not long, but you could do a lot in that time in Korea. I'd recommend starting at Sokcho and working your way down the east coast, over to Mokpo, and up to Seoul. I've posted a list of my favorite places to go in Korea here in a travel-forum thread. See if you can find that post. You can hit a couple of those. But this involves traveling around a lot, which burns up precious time.

I spent a long weekend in Yeosu last year and loved it. There are like a thousand islands, some little more than a hill with some patches of beach. The ferry terminal was easy to get to and easy to understand. It's a small town, so not too much to do other than relax. I didn't see a single foreigner the whole time I was there, which, being near the end of my first year in Seoul, was heaven. Some of the islands have small, and I mean small, towns on them with min-baks to stay in.

Just my two cents
