pretty much what the topic says, kt came today and finally set up my internet so i thought that i'd get a few games of street fighter 4 in on liv...but no dice.
when i plug my ethernet from the modem directly into the xbox first it recognizes and then tries to download the latest update, but it always fails. if it's relevant, this is a US xbox. |

Are you connecting to Xbox Live? Have you tested the connection through the Xbox Dashboard?
If you're not connecting to Xbox Live at all, try resetting your modem if you're changing your connection between the Xbox and something else. If you plug in something new, such as your Xbox, you need to reset the modem.
If you're connecting to Xbox Live, then it all falls apart during the update, well that's a bit weird...afraid I wouldn't have any advice in that case... |

Don't want to hijack but I'm having a similar issue, my connection test always fails at the "Connecting to xbox live" stage. It suggests resetting the modem, and I've done that- repeatedly. |

kt has a separate service for console games. you have to call kt and let them know that you have an xbox and wish to play it online. they'll ask you for the xbox's MAC address and you'll have to change to a different contract - though i believe it's the same price.
my friend had the same problem with his ps3. |

I had a similar problem. Once I got a cheap wired router the problem was fixed.
You can get a wired router at any electronics store for around 20,000 or maybe even less. |

For my wired router I did not have to install any software or anything at all. Just plug it in, and play. |
