I prefer to download embedded quicktime files so I can watch them in a stand alone player. Embedded quicktime files always seem a little dated to me, but HTML 5 should change that.
Usually you can just click on the bottom right of the player and save the file, then you can watch it in any player like VLC. Sometimes the ability to download the file is blocked by the user though.
BTW, thanks for posting the link. Do you have any other cool open/free general education courses? |

bj Ya flash mode works fine for me too but actually I was tryin to get it to work for my friend... English isn't his first language so we wanted the closed captioning that comes at the bottom with the QT version.
swigs I'd love to jut download it but nothing seems to happen when I click the bottom right... |

| View the source for the page, find the call for the quicktime file embed, copy the address, paste it into a new window, and then "save the page as" the quicktime file. That should download the movie for you. |

Good tip ladron. If that tip does not work for you, you can download url movies with the freeware program, Mpeg Streamclip, from http://www.squared5.com/
First view the source page when opening the quicktime link, then look for the embedded HTML link, then copy and paste " http://openmedia.yale.edu/projects/courses/spring08/econ252/mov/econ252_01_011408.mov "
Once you have the link you can open Mpeg Streamclip and go to File > Open URL, and click on the download option. I'm trying to download another course from the website, and they have really slow servers (at least via Korea), so it might take awhile. |
