Ok, I am finishing my 2nd contract and resigned for my 3rd one, here in Incheon.

I was allowed 15 days off in my contract. Half in winter and half in my summer. As I am resigning I get 2 weeks also.

As I understand it the 15 days off in the contract are work days off. Example Monday through Friday, not the weekends which I do not work. The extra two weeks resign are a strait two weeks Sunday to Saturday.

Here is the problem, my head coteacher told me that I had 9 days from the contract for the summer, plus the two weeks from the new sign. So, I set up my time with her last week to take off from July 16 to Aug 11. I just got an email from my head coteacher telling me that it was not 9 days and but 7, and included the weekend days. So now my vacation is from July 16 to Aug 6. ?????

I am now curious with our public school contracts about this, my first contract was the same as my second and it was workdays that countered, now they want the weekends included. So what is it?

I guess you're contract is different from mine as I have 21 days, not 15, but the days off in our regular contract with SMOE are indeed work days off and don't include weekends.

EPIK vacation days include weekends as they are calendar days! I think many people will be upset to realize this (as I was). Why, if my work days don't include weekends would my vacation day INCLUDE weekends? A tricky loophole to make the contract sound better than it is.

They are getting really stupid about this for some reason. Old contracts have a bonus of 2 actual weeks off for doing a second contract. the regular holidays are quoted in work days for old contracts and in actual days for new contracts. They are trying to be jerks with the weekends. Some schools are trying to stop people going away on weekends when the contarct says working days. So if your vacation starts on a Monday they want you to stick around until monday comes and nopt leave on the weekend before. This has no bearingon them but they are being real jerks about it.

Also with new contracts they want you to stick around until your holiday starts so you can't book for a Monday and use the weekend before. I think they changed from 14 working days to 21 actual days to rob people of one day of vacation plus shorten their holidays by two weekend days. How this benefits them in any way I cannot understand. Control dramas seam to be a way of life here.

My 2009 EPIK contract has 18 working days of vacation, not calendar days. But I heard it changed this year and it used to be calendar days.

Ideally the VP / handler says "enjoy the summer off."
