Guitarist/bassit here looking for other musicians. Really any type of metal, as long as its heavy as possible. Influences include Black metal, sludge, grind, thrash and punk. Influences include Lurker of Chalice, Wolves in the Throne Room, The Corrupted, Om, Sleep, Leviathan, etc.
Am open to other styles.
Reply with any questions you may have.
PS if you know of someone that might be interested, link them here please, thanks.
some influences of mine (particularly lurker of chalice, and particularly this song. Hypothermia is growing on me everyday and so are groups like Trist and other groups from around the world).
If you aren't actually interested in black metal, grind, doom or even post-rock, then don't bother replying. I'm interested in playing with people who are familiar with these styles specifically and/or is talented and open-minded about it. Also the ability to blast beat is utterly crucial.

so you went from listening to good black metal and grind to crappy neu-metal from Europe? I guess it's just subjective since I fall asleep to doom and black metal on a regular basis, especially a group like Trist, Isis or Sleep.

Wow! Glad to be 'one of those!' Looks like you didn't see the part where it said 'reply if you have any questions.'
Also, if you're in Korea and you actually know/like Lurker of Chalice, Trist or Hypothermia, and are interested in starting up a project, I doubt you'd really care about that information seeing as how there isn't exactly a thriving black metal scene in korea. If one were actually interested in playing (which I'm 99% sure you're not) said party would likely shoot me a PM like I've already received from people who are interested instead of replying snidely, so thanks for the trolling. |

Depends on who, drop some names and if I'm unfamiliar I'll look them up. I like old school thrash but more of the punk thrash like DRI and VOID. Not really into prog since I feel like sometimes dark atmopsheres are traded in for complexity. I like odd times and mathy parts but not as a staple but more of a garnish for the songs. Check out those links in the original post, that's basically what I'm inspired by. I'll probably add more band links like some Doom stuff like Sleep or more post-rock styles like Isis. |

Iron Maiden, Slayer, Opeth, Emperor and Testament (one of the sort of godfathers of thrash I'd say) are awesome! I dunno how much of an influence I want since I'm listening to a lot of post-rock lately and that's why I'm attracted to Black Metal and especially Leviathan and Lurker of Chalice.
What are you interested in trying to play, what are your thoughts on the matter? |

HAhaha...actually these days I'm listening to a lot of experimental jazz/jazz fusion and 80's stuff (good 80's though) My roots are in metal though. WHen I started learning guitar in the early to mid 90's it was all about Pantera, Megadeth, Maiden etc. I'm not too familiar with Lurker and Leviathan..but I'm always up for some new stuff.
Most of the waygook bands I've noticed here are too "hippyish" and I'd like to either participate in or see more metal bands. What's your playing style...heavily detuned rhythm...lead??? |

yeah I can't stand the hippyish stuff unless its Stoner Sludge or heavy Psych rock. I'm down for psych folk but that's not really happening here. I really like jazz, I like a lot of different stuff, but for jazz i'm really into the sort of off the wall free jazz stuff. Favorite bassist would be thelonius monk. I like Charlie Parker too, my favorite sax player.
Anyways, that's cool you're open to do stuff, I really like emperor, slayer and those other groups (Testament!) but yeah, send me a PM since I don't have the 25 posts yet. We can discuss more from there! |

This thread sounds really cool, unfortunately I don't understand much of it. I am a drummer and have played for a long time. My favourite style is the bluesy rock of the late 60's and early 70's. The Beatles, The "Stones", Led Zep, Deep Purple, early Sabbath, Jethro Tull etc |

LOL. I meant Al McKibbon, at least one of my favorite jazz bassists. Some of the most memorable stuff hes done aside from collaborating with Dizzy Gillespie was with Monk. Thelonius is still my favorite jazz musician. |
