if you didnt hear, a korean won a major sporting event. ji eun hee won the us open of golf. who else thinks that she will be the newest celebrity here? especially since golf is a tad bit more popular than figure skating here. soon all the kids will be trading in their skates for a pair of woods and drivers, and the driving range at my gym will be full of people practicing.

well in all fairness, Korean female golfers have been dominating the sport for more than 10 years now...

she is nothing new...
question is, is she just a a flash in the pan or is she here to stay...

lol really? damn i guess its the tiger woods effect. hes the only person i ever hear being talked about when it comes to golf in america

Se Ri Park years ago now dominanted ladies' golf, ranked #1, won several major championships, but got a collective shrug from my students. Some didn't know, others simply didn't care. No big deal.

So I doubt any difference will be made by this Korean woman winning one tournament, or ten.

like any sport.. She is well in the know in the golfing circles of Korea..

if you guys know any Korean guys who play golf just them if they know who she is.. They will all say OF COURSE...

I mean you canadians could spill out some superstar ice hockey names and I'd be like... ummmmmm OK... they play with Wayne gretski?

or Americans with basketball or baseball.. I can probably just name 10 players...
