I'm playing an online game that requires a good internet connection (Half-Life 2 Deathmatch) but I'm told my connection speed is quite bad (other players). One suggested using the IP number of my router to change the settings of the router firewall, but apparently this is only something a technician (or people Skylife sends out in lieu of technicians) can fix. The thing is, my OS is in English...and I know the minute of those guys sits down he's going to claim the problem is that my OS is in English or that he doesn't know what the problem is. I'd rather just do it myself, if possible. I don't want anyone monkeying around with my language settings.
I've seen this discussed on this forum before...can someone give a step by step approach to getting a killer ping rate? |

Your connection is likely bad because you're geographically far from the other players. I get this often when playing Left 4 Dead on xbox live.
If you really want to be able to mess around with your settings, figure out the model number of your router and dig for some information on it on the web. There's likely an English version of the firmware out there, unless you're using something like an Anygate or any of the other horribly-named Korean routers.
I'm using a D-Link WRT54G with custom firmware and it's awesome. I love the versatility of being able to etweak every little setting.
Anyway, best of luck. |

I had trouble sorting out my korean router and in the end just bought one off gmarket that had english settings.
Anyway, try and find english firmware like above poster suggested. |
