I know a guy whose wife is Korean-American who is coming to work and live in Korea. I know that she (b/o her Korean ancestry) can get an F-4 visa, but can her husband get any special visa that would still allow him to work in conjunction with her Korean heritage? I personally have an F-2 because my wife is Korean, but I'm just wondering if this guy can get any benefits because his wife can get an F-4.
Thanks. |

No. He will be able to get an F-1(or 3?) visa which is a dependent visa and allows him to live in Korea, but not to work. To work he'd need to qualify for the respective visa on his own merits (i.e. E-2).
There is a poster on this board with the same situation. His wife was Korean, immigrated to Canada or Aus and gave up Korean citizenship, she is here on an F-4 and he is on an E-1/2. (I recall reading this a while ago, so some of the details my be a bit iffy). I believe the poster is Ilsanman? Or is it Hansen...I'm not sure. Anyways it's a regular and he will probably post here to verify/rebuke my answer. |
