Do you think Korean bicycles are the finest quality bikes in Asia?
Why?
Why not? |

You're kidding right? Korean bikes, 100% of which are now made
in China BTW, are crap. Inferior metals, technology and tolerances.
Japan, on the other hand, produces Shimano. The top end being
their "XTR" components. Shimano XTR and SRAM X.0 are pretty
much acknowledged to be the benchmark for serious cyclists. |

The crappy bikes in the West are made in China too, whereas the higher quality Korean brands are made in the same Taiwanese factories that also produce a lot of higher-end Western brands.
If you go into one of the fancier Korean bike shops and buy one of their 3 million won bikes you're bascally buying Taiwanese-made frame with lots of Japanese components and maybe some American or European-made bling (Chris King, Thomson etc)
I think only the Korean company's stickers are produced in Korea.
I think there are a few small boutique companies popping up in Korea and making custom-made frames now. Nosmallplans knows about these guys. |
