Hello,
I am going to apply in October for March but I am currently in Europe and will not be going back to the states. Can I do all of my paper work from Europe or do I need to do it in the states. For example my background check?
Any info would be great!
Thank you in advance:)

If you can have someone get the background checks for you, and mail them to you, you should be fine. Same with the transcripts, usually uni.s will do this themselves.
I did all my paperwork from China 6 months ago (with friends/family helping out by shipping stuff to me), so I'm sure you could do it in France.
If, however, this is your first e2 visa, you might have a problem, b/c they might want you to be in your home country for your 1st. |

I did all of my own paperwork from Thailand. It was a mess and took some time, but it isn't all that hard. This business about a first E-2 is a bit tricky. It was my first E-2. You can have your first E-2 issued in a third country only if you have your degree verified by the KCUE. |

Korea's a love/hate place for me. I've been more in a hate mood the past month or so, but I've been here 2 1/2 years so I obviously like something about the place.
Like most places, you get out what you put in. |

Of course.
Can you recommend any good cities to apply for. I am not a drinker so im not interested in the party scene. I am more into tranquility, yoga, meditation, mountains and rivers or lakes.
Any suggestions? |

I'm also American, and I am processing my paperwork from Sweden.
According to my Recruiter, as long as the embassy in the 3rd party country agrees to process the E2 visa, then there is no need to return to your home country to process it.
After speaking with the Embassy in Stockholm, they said that they can process E2 applications but only for government positions (EPIK, GEPIK, SMOE).
I requested all of the documents, and had them mailed for someone else in the US to process for me. They sent in my documents to be apostilled and then mailed them to me. It wasn't a problem for someone else to sort it out for me. I just filled out the appropriate forms (transcript request, CRC request) and scanned them. They printed the documents and mailed them with a check to the addresses I indicated.
When I received the documents, I included some passport photos and the rest of the documents and mailed them to South Korea.
I'm waiting now to see if they will issue an E2 visa, and then I'll go to the embassy here to have it entered into my passport.
I'll let you know how it works out for me. |

I applied and received an E2 visa in a 3rd party country (I'm American on an extended tourist visa in Sweden).
I didn't have to get my degrees verified by KCUE, either.
The embassy here was confused with how to process it, since they don't normally process E2s here (the mother tongue isn't English). She called and spoke with someone at the immigration office in South Korea, and worked out the details.
She did say that they could only process visas for the government/ ministry of education, but then said that anyone with a visa issuing number could apply. (Correct me if I'm wrong, but, Ministry of Education give Notice of Appointments, and Hagwans give visa issuing numbers. So perhaps she can process for any E2.)
It went smoothly, after they worked out the details. They picked up my passport and documents at the post office, processed my visa and mailed out the package on the same day. |
