|
|
Thought I might go home for a visit, but then surprise! I guess that's not happening.
So I have about 2 1/2 weeks in August for vacation, but I'm not sure where to go! I'm hoping for nice weather (not too humid), where there are lots of things to see and do, in a place that's relatively easy on the wallet.
Is there anywhere that springs to mind with this generally rough outline? |

Most of Asia is in the monsoon with the exception of Indonesia. Try starting from Bali and go island hopping. |

Fly to Istanbul on www.uzbekair.co.kr for about 1 mil return (via Tashkent).
Turkey is great in August.
Nice hostels, fantastic food, gorgeous people, saunas, bazaars, amazing mosques and architecture etc.
I like the whole Mediterreanean / Asian / Euro feel. Was very flash.
Plus could do a quick overnight train trip to Greece/Thessolonika if you wanted a side trip.
Great time to go now before it gets sucked into the Euro zone completely.
For 1 million won it is the same price as Thailand and you get much more value. |

It is the dry time in Bali.
Try Mongolia if you want to beat the heat (at night anyway).
In Thailand, Samui (Gulf side on the east) usually has better weather than Phuket (Andaman side on the west) in the summer. |

I've always wanted to go to Turkey, that definitely is something I'll look into.
Earlier I was pondering Mongolia, but I hear they've had massive flooding lately, especially in Ulaan Baatar, not sure how the rest of the country is fairing? |
