This is slightly technology related, but also related to life in Korea.
For those who want a decent selection of English books, barnes and noble has just released their store and ereader on the iphone/touch.
The app is free you get a free copy of merriam webster's pocket dictionary with it..but it seems their entire catalog is available as ebook purchases. I've tried a couple searches for some fantasy authors I like (salvatore, eddings) and it appears most or all of their recent catalog is online, so I suspect so is everything else from the last few years. Prices seem to be standard book prices, but I also note some 20% off sales. Also includes free samples so you can browse the book beforehand.
Not the same as a book, but if you're having trouble getting a particular new book in Korea and you aren't interested in movie tie-ins or self-help books..it might be useful. |

If you want some newer english books you can get them via ereader on an ipod touch or the iphone when it comes.
Basically its a free ereader that integrates with barnes and nobles online store. they sell main stream books in e format which can be automaticlaly added to the ereader. For some people looking for certain books it might be a way to get them as the bookstores here often feature a fairly common theme.. textbooks, movie tie ins, and motivational books.
Anything outside of that can be a chore to hunt down. |

It's not that hard:
people often complain they have trouble finding certain books.
Barnes and Noble (big american book chain) just released an ebook reader for the iphone /ipod touch.
Most recent books are available for purchase on their store which can be used with the ebook reader thus making it easier for people to find those books and get access to them. |

Hey thanks. Good tip. Do you have to be an American itunes user? I was psyched about the Kindle app, but was ultimately dissapointed to find out it was US only. This could be a cool app but charging standard prices for less than the full product is a little on the nose. I wish publishers would pull their head out their ass re ebooks. The first one to do so will make a pile of cash. |
