I am hoping to head over to Osaka the weekend of August 7th to catch a few of my favorite bands. Unfortunately, the international ticket sales for the Summer Sonic festival are closed now, even though tickets aren't sold out. Has anyone went to Summer Sonic in the past? If so, do you know whether or not it is possible to buy tickets upon arrival to Osaka?
I'm debating whether or not to take the (quite expensive) risk of just showing up and purchasing a ticket there. It would definitely be worth it to see the likes of the Flaming Lips, Sonic Youth, and Grizzly Bear live in Japan. Any advice from past festival goers would be greatly appreciated! |

Hi,
I've not been to Summer Sonic, but I have gone over for Fuji Rock on two seperate occasions.
For both Fuji festivals I had already ordered my tickets from Korea. Yet I did notice a bunch of people selling scallped (mp?) tickets outside near where the people start coming towards the entrance. Not sure if the tickets were being sold for more than face value.
I paid 40,000yen for each Fuji ticket (near $400US at the time) and it was worth every penny of it!
Face it, doing anything in Japan is gonna be expensive though it is so worth it. If Summer Sonic is anything like Fuji Rock, you will be totally blown away.
The Japanese know how to throw a serious muthaf#@*ing party.
So just go and have fun. |
