I am going to be using skype while I am in Korea, but I am having the following problem now in the US. When using skype to skype with headsets on both ends, during the conversation I would miss what the person was saying sometimes during the conversation. When someone speaks with on a landline the person on the other end would hear me , but they claim they hear an echo sometimes. While this is going on I am using someones wireless service in my development. I have been told by a tech, (for what it is worth) , he claims I needa 2 mega bit upstream service. Is this true and if it is does the nternet service in Korea offer 2 mega as standard internet service? |

LOL...
Ok, regarding the 2 megabit upstream... I speak with my friends in South Africa on skype all the time and 99% of the time, the sound quality is perfect. Their connections vary from 192k upstream (0.192 megabit) and 512K upstream (0.5megabit). So I doubt that's the problem..
If that is the problem....you'll EASILY be able to get 2megabit upstream in Korea. Actually I don't think it's possible to get less than that. For the record my connection has an upstream of 100megabit... |

no, you don't need anything that fast to get skype to work. However skype is inconsistent it is not a guaranteed professional service. I've been using it for a long time and while there are some days where it seems ornery, 99% of the time it is just fine. You will get bad connections from time to time. |

So, the missing of words during the conversation using skype to skype and the landline connection in which the person on the phone is getting an echo sound is normal and has nothing to do with getting 2 mega bits? |

Nope. To you it is the same. Whether they are using skype or a phone is immaterial. All skype does is find a local box in an area code and call out from there. From that point back to you it is all skype anyway.
Sometimes I get a bad connection on a phone call, sometimes a bad connection on a skype call. Its hit and miss.
If its 100% consistent that is another issue. |

The problem is when whoever you're calling may be using a cordless phone, which are notoriously bad sounding. Next time tell them to go prehistoric and use a land line. |

It all depends, are you at a PC Bhang?
I find they very in quality. Its really hit and miss. Just try another one.
Not all were created equally. And if you are downloading skype. It sometimes doesn't work off SKYPE, you haveto go to auctionskype which you can just find by typing skype in on naver. It works even in English.
I only use skype and usually find it works in about 50% of the pc bhangs. I have a few fav's. |
