I'm teaching two listening classes for grade 9 students. However, I find the class boring and I am sure the kids do listening to dialogue/lecture one after another. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas to make it so the class is not so dry and some way that would help the time pass by quicker. Thanks! |

Are you a teacher or are you a robot?
What did you do when you attended class. What did you hate and how did those teachers approach those classes.
Try to use your imagination, just a little.
I might sound negative, but your question is so general, few people will be able to give you more concrete advise. |

Rather than trying to make your classes fun, try making them extra effective instead.
There are 9 types of questions in the iBT Listening section, and for each type there are certain strategies for attack as well as secret tips, tricks, and patterns that make predicting upcoming questions and solving them a snap.
If you prepare well enough so that you can teach your kids how to quickly and confidently beat the section, there will be no need to worry about entertaining your class -- I guarantee they'll be quite attentive. |

Thanks for the help everyone. I apologize for the poor wording of my question. I was trying to make the listening class more exciting/interesting in a way that they would improve their test taking skill. The two classes I have are only 4 times a week total. These classes are a lot different than the JLS chess classes I am teaching.
Thanks again! |

Take the advise of Mr/Mrs/Ms? Garrison of South Park. Sex sells. Only time my teaching teachers session got attention was when we covered sexual innuendos in SATC. |
