looked around a bit and couldn't find a topic on this
i plan on moving to Korea in April for a job. I have a good collection of DVDs that I'm going to bring, both originals and back up burned copies (would rather keep the really rare stuff back home for safekeeping). Just wondering if this is going to look funny going through customs. I'd hate to get flagged for having burned copies of DVDs that I actually own |

how big of a collection are you talking about? If you're talking about under 50-60 ish then I know it's perfectly fine. It'll look suspicious if you have several copies of 'em but otherwise, it shouldn't really matter... |

Unless you're declaring something, I doubt that customs will be anything but a briefly slower walk on your way out to Arrivals.
I brought a ton of dvds (on spindles), and in retrospect I wish that I had saved the space and gotten an external harddrive to download them here. |

I have 3 external hard drives with 6 Terabytes worth of movies, music, programs, pictures, e-books, audio tapes, etc...How will that look going through customs?
What do you have to "declare" when arriving in Korea? |

that would be like taking a ham sandwich to a banquet. With fiber direct to home internet connections for less than 35k per month you can download 100 movies in a good weekend (a week if the peers are slow).
Save your space and weight for something useful like spices and comfort food from home. |

This is no longer relevant to OP who's already in Korea (btw, what did you end up doing?), but what I did was take each dvd from its original case and them into a travel CD case (I put 50 dvds into one case) - very transportable and light. |

I brought a couple of spindles worth. No problems and well worth the extra weight to my luggage. |
