^^You can always count your severance pay and smile. Also, that free ticket doesn't hurt as icing on the cake! The best part is the satisfaction of know that you have lived up to your end of the bargain. You set out to do something to the best of your ability, you signed a contract, and you got the job done. That is worth a few beers and a pat on the back! |

My greatest mistake here was not quitting my first contract. Being threatened with the sack if I was ever late (which I never was), being bullied and harassed by some scrag who called herself a Christian even though she was a nasty pice of shit, yes, I regretted that.
There is no shame in quitting. That was two years ago when jobs were easy to get, but alas, I'm not usually a quitter so I stuck it out.
I don't think the golden handshake at the end was worth it though. |

In extreme cases, quit. In cases where your job is fine, but something better comes along, well, I'll tell you, I'd hire someone who was reliable enough to give their previous employer what they agreed to give, over someone who cut and ran for a higher paying job.
Having said that, again, in extreme cases, quit. While there are cases that's best, the REALLY best thing to do is choose your jobs carefully in the first place. Breaking contract can bite you in the ass later. |
