BANGKOK: -- The South Bangkok Criminal Court Wednesday sentenced a Korean man to
25 years and nine months in jail after he pleaded guilty in killing his
Thai girlfriend while he was high on methamphetamine on October 31 last year.

Now, if this had happen in Korea, my guess would be 3 to 5 years. Mad

Yeah, I agree, Korean courts are WAY to lenient on scumbags like him.

That's fantastic. Should humble his ajeoshi ego a bit and teach Korean sex tourists that they're not in the land of Han-style (in-)justice anymore. And I bet there's no kimchi in Thai prison either, hahahaha.

The only thing he's gonna be eating in there is the Thai stick. And i'm not talking about the kind I just smoked.

In Korea he would have done more time for the meth than for killing his GF.

I think his biggest shock will be that he actually has to serve the entire time in prison.

He was found naked with blood all over his body. Dark.

Are Koreans big on meth? I have heard so.

Hope he gets what he deserves in prison...

I think he would of gotten a lot of time in Korea too...

no country lets anyone off for 3-5 for murder..
he would have probably done life in Korea for that...

because you know the thai embassy would have a field day with it..

Ive never heard of any korean only doing 3 years for murdering his foreign wife or girlfriend..

have you??

As soon as I read sentenced to 25 years, I knew it had to be in Thailand. How sad is that?

In today's news.

A Cambodian woman was sentenced to prison for killing her husband, who had been repeatedly violent to her.

The Daegu District Court gave the unidentified woman, 18, a four-year sentence Thursday for stabbing her husband to death.

However, the two cases are different. One was self defense,

Quote:
`She was pregnant, and we acknowledge that she used the knife to defend herself. But she stabbed him three times and the wounds showed that she attacked him consciously, so it was a preemptive attack rather than legitimate self-defense,'' the court said.

The woman came to Korea in April of last year to get married. The 38-year-old husband, under the influence of alcohol, attacked her at their home in Daegu in January.

Self defense always carries a much lighter sentence. You'd need to find a better article/example if you want to prove that Korea has lighter sentences for murder,

And because it's just so predictable, I'm not apologizing for Koreans, As it might be true that Koreans have lighter sentences for murders, but this article doesn't prove the point you're trying to make.

A guy in Daejeon got a "relatively heavy punishment" of 12 years for beating his Vietnamese wife to death in 2008.

Quote:
The Vietnamese woman, who suffered abuse at the hands of her husband and was impeded by a language barrier, decided to leave for her hometown on July 26, 2007, after one month of married life in Korea. But her intoxicated husband beat her to death.

In the ruling, the court said ``We saw the tragedy in which an older Korean male selected his wife in a matter of minutes then treated her like an imported product.''

It tells you something about the value of a human life.
