|
|
I just got hired with SMOE, and plan to fly out to Korea mid-August.
One of my biggest concerns is whether or they're going to administer drug tests on the new teachers? I'm not going to lie, I do inhale cannabis from time to time, so I'm just worried that the immigration are going to get crazy on me and ask for a hair sample or something. I know if they do a urine test I'll be fine because I haven't touched it in a couple of weeks, but if they do either a blood sample or hair sample I'll be totally screwed!!
need advice please! Thanks! |

| THey don't check for marijuana anymore. Although the test may be included in some hospitals still. |

| It's a piss test and anyway, much like the FBI, they realized that it is quite difficult to find enough qualified people who haven't gotten high before. Of course, like the FBI, the contradiction lies in the fact that you are disqualified if you've ever been arrested for it. So if by the luck of the draw you never got caught you are eligible regardless of whether or not THC is in your system when you arrive to Korea. However simple misdemeanor level possession back home can get you a mandatory 2-5 year sentence in Korea. Don't mess around...you will get owned. I personally think industrialized Asia could use some reality altering plants...I'd be willing to bet you'd see a marked improvement in both the high suicide and low birth rates. Just my 2 cents though. |

| thanks guys!! this was a great help. Yes and I do agree that Asia needs to lessen their sentences with marijuana...i mean cmon it's as natural as basil haha. That was MY two cents worth. |

Hey:
I was worried about the same thing coming to Korea. Everyone said they didn't check for it, but after I got my medical test back... behold they do actually check for it. So be careful. Just to let you know THEY DO STILL CHECK FOR IT |

If and when you go on vacation, other than going home (to a stoner dest.)
DONT TELL THE PEOPLE YOU WORK WITH!
If you plan on going to
Thailand => don't mention it
Philippines => don't mention it
Amsterdam => Germany
Jamaica => another WI island that no one has heard of
Upon return they will promptly pee test you 'Just in case' |

No they won't. This is alarmist B.S. I have gone to the Philippines several times and have never been pee tested.
That is ONLY for getting a visa or a medical check. Nothing else. |

They won't ask, so don't tell. Pee in the cup, give blood and the end. If you have been clean for a few weeks (depending on how heavy a user you are/were) then you will be fine.
Never ceases to amaze me how people always seem to be caught off-guard by the testing. Just stupid, unable to use the internet or chronic? |

I love Dave's. Where "professional teachers" get together to discuss drugs and other ways to violate visa law.
The MODs allow it so why not as long as you don't swear it's all good...
What a joke... |

1200 (assuredly high-quality) posts in less than a year...I'd say you love Dave's. Almost as much as me.
Nobody told the OP how to break visa laws. Quite the contrary; we are illustrating how to get and be on the right side of them. At least I was. At least I think I was. If I wasn't, then shame on me. |

This coming from the bigot that polls 'who would rather work with Whites or Blacks'....
MODs took that away and he is pissed |

I don't know where your info came from but I once visited Thailand from Korea, no test upon returning, & my last go around in Korea I actually got my visa from the Korean Embassy in Manila, The Philippines, where I now live with my wife, once again no test even when I just traveled back & forth.
I did get the standard medical check for STDs & AIDS upon arrival in Sacheon.
