I've come to the conclusion that maybe, just maybe, Koreans will not veer from their paths straight into mine if there were clearly allocated lines for pedestrian traffic. Rules would of course have to be strictly enforced as with vehicle traffic and anyone who seriously violates the rules will have their legs suspended Twisted Evil .

sooooo... that would be the same technique they use to prevent single lanes of traffic turning into a free for all with three lanes of scooters, buses and bicycles overloaded with cardboard.......

Mind you, i do like the suspension of legs idea... (do we just hack off a couple of toes for minor violations?)

Good idea, except that no one follows the lines on the roads either.

Perhaps I am being too harsh...perhaps there is a more serious underlying problem. I've observed an alarming number of Koreans wearing spectacles, so perhaps they simply can't see me (or the lines on the road) Question

Fruitcake, I tried it once or twice and felt really bad afterwards. I am not only afraid of being injured, but I'm scared I'll hurt someone else. Yeah yeah I'm a real girly girl...

my seven years there, I actually only ran into someone once, which was by accident cause I wasn't paying attention. was pretty funny: smacked shoulders with some ajosshi on the subway platform, we both turned, looked at each other, and turned away without breaking stride.

but it is true, on the sidewalks, just maintain your course and they will get out of your way (mostly). You can always stop and glare if they don't, thus reducing chance of injury.
