After a 1 meter drop of a Ralph Lauren cologne bottle from the medicine cabinet, our toilet is now cracked clear through at the top of the inside bowl, and leaks.

My dad just replaced an old toilet in the USA, and a new one plus installation cost $550.

This is going to hurt...

Please don't keep heavy glass bottles of stuff in the medicine cabinet above your toilet, lest the same happen to you!

Ouch!!

I'll count myself lucky.

The worst that has happened to us is a simultaneous flush and dropped toothbrush. 50000won to a plumber to get it out. Took him about five minutes.

Stupidly placed cabinet has the towels and toothpaste etc right next to the toilet bowl!

I busted my bathroom door open because my drunk ex-girlfriend locked herself in and couldn't open the door. 400,000 won for a new door frame, FML.

I dropped my mouthwash bottle in the toilet yesterday. Luckily, it is made of plastic.

I would have just left her in there. Unless perhaps I was intoxicated as well.

It needn't, though. Looking at the ol' 욕실디자인 연감 (Bathroom Design Annual, 2008), you should be able find a serviceable replacement (white, standard) for under 300k. Korean-made from 100~300k, Chinese-made for under 100k. Installation will be similarly affordable, as well. Unless the broken one was some gaudily priced European import and your landlord insists that you buy him another, I wouldn't worry.

It's an ICGLIM brand with a big K marked on it... must be Korean? Also is a water-saver... not standard. Sad

Any idea what that'll run, Jungro? I'm going to try to slop some sealant on the bottom/outside and see if I can keep it from leaking. Will try that first.. only leaks a smidge when flushed or the crack is pee'd on. It's above water.

Looks familiar and Korean, but can't find it under those initials in my catalogues. (the "K" is just part of the "Korea Standard" logo, and you'll see a stylised "S" forming a circle around the "K")

Don't fret. Those are just smaller, not (much?) pricier. Stroll down to your neighbourhood bathroom-fixture/kitchen-tile guy and check his prices. You might look for the "Woolim" brand -- we've installed those in a 2nd bath, a basement bath, even in a garden outhouse. Simple, reliable, affordable. They're water-saver models, and I see we paid 220,000 won a piece. I think we got a discount on top of that price. Serim, Eva, Toto, Vovo... Models come & go, prices change. Just go have a look.

Cool.... did the 220,000 include installation?

(by the way, I have now successfully caked white silicone sealant on the outside part of the bowl and stopped the leaks... on the bright side, I now have a funky star-shape to take aim at!)
