Yes, you can get it renewed at the Canadian Embassy.
When you do this, just go to immigration and report it. They will transfer the information in their system, but not necessarily put a new visa in your new passport. You will have to get a new re-entry visa if you plan on vacationing outside of Korea. |

I renewed my Canadian passport here earlier this year.
Immigration put in a small stamp listing my previous passport number & transferred my 6-month-old multi-entry permit. Easy. |

You need to submit an application form that you 'might' be able to download from their website. Not sure about if you can or not. You can get one at the embassy tho. You need 2 guarantors. If you do not have 2 professional people who can be guarantors, you can submit 4 people who can vouch for you, and of course pay a higher fee. Once you submit it, it 'should' take 3-4 weeks. But someone here mentioned that they screwed up, and it took 6 weeks total.
You don't need an appointment. |

Wow. So many people can not use google
http://www.passportcanada.gc.ca/cdn/form.aspx?lang=eng®ion=international
That should give you a head start. Your other problem is you need to have to reference that have know you in Korea for over two years. And sorry no family members. I think you can use other people as references but they may need to be contacted and the embassy will want them at least contactable in Korea.
Next off you need a Guarantor who also needs to be in Korea. This person also once again needs to have known you at least two years and is in a profession like Mayor, judge, lawyer, justice of peace, doctor, and dentist. Yay I made loads of doctors my friends. I usually saw them and then ignored them once my bad rash went.
In All I am annoyed with the Canadian psssport renewal process. it is harder then the Americans and the Australian do no tget me started.... |

There is a form on which your Guarantor will need to sign within a box.
The last time I renewed my passport my doctor's signature went a bit
outside of the box and the embassy would NOT accept it. I had to take
the form back and get it signed again. Even though it states on the form
that this service MUST be provided for free, she charged me a fee.
Well - just make sure the signature fits entirely within the allotted space. |

i did it in seoul in '07 and it was so easy and straight forward that i almost completely forgot the experience, remembering more my apprehension about it before i got the ball rolling
just put one foot in front of the other and the process is straightforward and painless |

According to the passport application (PDF),
Quote: |
If you have not known an eligible guarantor for at least TWO (2) years, complete a "Statutory Declaration in Lieu of Guarantor" form
PPTC 132, available from any Canadian government office providing passport services. This form must be completed at your expense
before a person authorized by law to administer an oath or solemn affirmation. |
Here's some advice about getting the signature to stay within the box: make a cardboard template. Put the template over the box when signing. |

I did it with the UK embassy last August and they were superb. Paid the money, a couple of phone calls and no questions asked.
If i had done it in the UK I would still be waiting now. |

In simple terms, when you go in with your application you fill out one additional form, chat with some consular official for a couple minutes, & pay an extra $50. |

Yep. But apparently it's supposed to be in local currency. Anyone with experience know if you can use Canadian money or even a cheque? I'm American and last I remember, we had to fork over either American cash or Korean cash (our choice) to the consulate for the fees. |

Canadian embassy accepts either currency. I had some $cdn lying around that I'd bought back when rates were much more favorable -- felt like a discount! |
