Got to go and watch a children's film (a posh poncy middle class children's film at that.) My uni director is forcing me to go ('it's voluntary but you must go.')

I wouldn't watch this when I was younger and I don't want to watch it now because I'm an adult and not a geek, or upper middle class, or a mixture of them both.

Thank you.

Please feel free to trash Harry Potter below as it will make me feel better.

Isit during regular work hours? I'd look it for what it is: snooze time on the company's dime.

If not, if it's during the weekend or some nonsense like that, then the hell with that.

Too bad. I really enjoyed that one. Quite dark. Btw, I had a hemorrhoid removed last month. The doctor was very professional. You should look him up. I'm sure he does sticks too.

Mate I just sat through what seemed like 4 hours of the most inane nonsense I have ever experienced. This film made English teaching in Korea seem meaningful and worthwhile. It was so boring, completely humourless (really, put at least a few jokes in there, Jesus Christ it is four hours long after all.)

I'm not anal, I'm just not able to watch hours of banality.

I wasn't paid for my time.

I don't know if you've noticed this, but sometimes it's harder to say no in Korea than it is to do something you really don't want to do. I had two weeks of them chipping away at me, all the time saying no, and finally I just cracked and thought '**** it, how bad can it be?' Believe me, it really was that bad.

I will never get back those four hours.

Nope. You fall into a category of people that don't like those kinds of stories/movies. I happen to be one of them as well. While I won't rag on people who like that sort of literature/fiction/fantasy, I consider it a complete waste of my mind space/time.

Peace brother

I fully support Harry Potter bashing as well, not because it's bad, but because it's so mediocre. If it were bad, that might make it interesting in some way.

I think it's too bad they made you go to the movie. It should have been your choice. You should have the right to refuse to view a movie you don't want to see. And for a movie, it IS long. But it is 153 minutes, or 2 hours, 33 minutes, not 4 hours.

It was tough watching that ****. I could have stared at a wall and hit myself with a frying pan for two hours, or slid down a mile long razor blade on my balls landing in a pot of salt and vinegar. Either would have been a better use of my precious time.

P.S this thread isn't as much about being forced to go, it's more about how shockingly dire the whole HP franchise is. It's the Macdonalds of children's fantasy writing.

Who wants to read about some specky four eyed little gimp who goes to boarding school?

My co-teacher asked me if I read Harry Potter and I looked at her as if she was a retard - totally justified in my opinion!

Though as a kid - I loved to read 'Billy Bunter' books - bu they were rather funny!
