My recruiter received all of my documents in Korea Tuesday then emailed me and said she forwarded them to my new school so they could issue a visa number and then also asked me what day I'd be ok with flying out so she could purchase the plane ticket. That was yesterday morning. I sent two emails since then and haven't gotten an email back yet. I was expecting an email back byt the time i woke up this morning. Am I being paranoid? I have heard about the scam recruiters before. Because I was in such a hurry to get started again, I sent off my original diploma. I would have to wait about three more weeks or a month just to get another copy of that. Not to mention the criminal background check. |

The visa issuance number could take a week or so. Where are you planning to get your visa? |

The Atlanta, Ga consulate. You don't think this is a scam do you? It seems like she would have requested my passport if this is a scam. Sorry, I am getting very paranoid with two unanswered emails. |

Well no one can ever be complete sure... it's a nerve wracking time. But I think she's just busy getting the docs to the school, who in turn have to get them to Immi. It's a hagwon job? |

I'd calm down a bit man....like Kikomom said, it takes a week usually to get the visa issued. Also I wouldn't stress out over 1 day of unanswered emails. No recruiter would be in business if they only had one teacher to place. I'm sure she's got some other things going on. Now if you don't hear from her in the next 10 days or so then I'd get a little suspicious. Just email her once a day from now on and keep things civil.

You never talked to them on the phone? |

Yes, I talked to her once on the phone.
I just sent another email. That will make three unanswered by tomorrow morning if no email is received.
Also, I spoke to an American English teacher at the chain academy I will be working for Sunday night. Not sure if he will be at same exact school, but he said he likes it. I don't know, surely it isn't all a scam.
All this coffee is making me paranoid. I'm going to get another cup. |

Am I right in thinking some recruiters just get as many people as possible to send their documents? Then it's a kind of first come first served free-for-all.
As I said in another thread, I was offered a job (then spent the following 2 weeks sorting out documentation). Then received an email from the same recruiter offering me a job "interview" for a different school in a different city. |

I have already signed a contract and spoken to a teacher at the school. Surely not. |

Right. Perhaps signing the contract seals the deal.
The recruiter in question wanted everything sending at the same time (contract, crb etc.). But of course in my case I needed 2 weeks to get everything sorted. In the meantime, they obviously gave "my" job to someone else. |
