Just saw this http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8162862.stm on the BBC website.

Anyone got any idea what the hell they're kicking off over? The page just says it's over a media reform but thats not the sort of issue you'd expect to start a rumble.

Pretty sad really. Funny to see so many fail at jumping up there..but sad that a country that is supposed to be an "advanced" nation has its most senior representatives acting like college kids at a "Mad Cow" rally.

I guess they can take light of the fact that Korea made the world headlines once again.

There are lots of countries where politicians get into scuffles over things more often than in the West. However, I agree, it is pretty pathetic; these Korean parliamentarians need to start acting like adults.

I have just come back from dinner and its all over the news here in the Czech Republic, Prague. Absolutely shameful and shambolic, irrespective of your feelings towards Korea this is a complete mess.

I think someone made a song called "true colors shining through." I live in my own little world, not wanting to know about stuff like this.

You would have thought that the head honcho was auctioning off their first born sons. But in reality, it was probably about the monthly room salon perc being cut off.

Saw this on the CBC today where the journalist states that the politicians are acting like children.

Those who started the brawling should be kicked out of the assembly for life. They can be easily replaced.

This is all about the Media Law bill that the present administration have been trying to get through the assembly and which is opposed by what some surveys to suggest to be around 60-70% of the population, and is even opposed by some prominent governing party members.

Whatever else it might do well, the BBC has never been a particularly good source of news on Korea. So it wouldn't surprise me that people not presently in Korea wouldn't have much of an idea what this was all about.

But it has been THE top news story in Korea for quite a few days now and has been a major news story here even longer. So I'd be slightly taken aback if people actually living here really had no idea at all what it was about.

I t was all over the ruling party passing a law that makes it possible for tv companies to cross own media such as newspapers, cable, tv etc...

The fact that fully adult politicians think the best way to go about voicing their dissent and trying to overturn a rulling is to pile up lots of furniture to try and stop the rulling arty officials from entering / leaving a room makes me just

Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Sigh, Korea....

I think this might relate to the promote tourism in Korea thread. Any country that has politicians who act like children and get into pathetic brawls are nowhere near advanced or developed in my opinion.
