I was supposed to meet my recruiter on Thursday in person. He called me on Wednesday saying "What happened? I'm so sorry I was late, did you leave before I got there!??" And I was like "Uh.... I have your e-mail right here, we were supposed to meet Thursday not today." He then apologized about the confusion and said he has to reschedule for Friday. So we rescheduled for Friday at 4. I drove 40 minutes to meet him at 4 at a Starbucks. When I got there, he wasn't there. I waited 50 minutes before leaving. I called his cell and office several times. Nothing.
Should I drop this guy? He had several good opportunities for me that he wanted to talk about, but if he's this irresponsible and unreliable I'm thinking he's not worth dealing with and I'd be better of on my own. Since this is my first time looking for ESL positions abroad, I thought a recruiter could help me through the step by step process. I'm very pissed. He wasted almost 3 hours of my day. |

Normally I would say you should drop him. Just depends, we've all had crazy weeks and right now is the busiest time for recruiters. What company is it? Ask other people if they've had experience with them. If you're not going ASAP, then you're not the top priority for any recruiter and it's possible he got you and someone else mixed up, which led to the resulting confusions. |

Find another recruiter. There are PLENTY of recruiters and jobs. You don't need to settle for someone who doesn't give a rat's behind about you. |

Had an experience like that once too. Spent an hour going across the city to meet this recruiter at his office. I get there, his assistant said he is on vacation.
I took it out on the assistant (poor man!) and never looked back.
There are other recruiters. Take this as a sign. |
