Why is that? Is the current version giving you trouble?

For one, I'm excited about the new interface, because the old way of doing things has always sucked. Avast has some advanced features, but they're not easy to get into and make use of for many people.

I run the current version on two machines, and it works well. It's not the greatest at pro-actively finding stuff, but it is a great piece of software for free.

I have always preferred the AVG interface, but run Avast because AVG is not anti-rootkit at the free level. That's a pretty big deal, in my book. It will be nice to finally have an interface that's more user-friendly.

The security suite sounds interesting, and will be fun to try out. Faster scan speeds (especially during software boot) will be welcomed.

Man...I am not sure I have ever seen the interface. I installed it and it sits silently in the tray.

I'm with demo on that one.

Just load it up and forget it. I just checked the GUI for the first time in ages, but only because of this post. Laughing

But good on them. It's always good to improve stuff...as long as they don't start charging.

Vista x64 seems so resistant to viruses and malware that I never seem to open my virus scanner (AVG Free). It just sits in the tray.

I'm almost considering trying to go without a virus scanner altogether.......but I'm too chicken!!

At the moment I'm considering wiping my Vista x64 installation to make the move to Windows 7 x64.........so I could just uninstall my AV and see what happens.......might do that tonight actually.

I run the pro version on one computer, and set it to do a scan every week or two as a part of the shutdown process. I run XP, which is not so safe.

I was running the home version and got nailed by that nasty Antivirus 2009 spoof that came in though Hanmail, I believe. I wouldn't have, but happened to have a Korean at my computer whom I was showing something in an e-mail. I was in a hurry, and clicked somewhere I shouldn't -- fooled into the fake Windows install thing.

I try to avoid anti-virus programs--never liked any of them. I feel like they just slow my computer down. Although I only browse the same 10 or so websites, so I'm pretty confident I won't contract anything.
