I have attempted to ring immigation with this question but they only have translator services on weekdays.
My question is : I have two passports an Australian and a Swedish. My E-2 working visa will expire on 24th August. And I will not be renewing my teaching contract.
Tomorrow I leave for a two week trip to Japan. When I come back to Korea I will teach my last week, then I would like to travel around Korea for the following 2 months before going to China to work.
Is it then possible to reenter Korea using my Swedish passport and getting a tourist visa. The problems I forsee are my Australian passport will have a stamp saying I left the country on 2nd August but in theory never returned, could this be a problem when claiming back the pension and or income tax refund?
And would the Chinese embassy approve my working visa eventhough I'm in Korea on a tourist visa.
Basicially what I'm trying to save myself from doing is coming back to Korea and then leaving on the 24th to China/Japan only to return on a tourist visa the following day.
Appreciate any advice given^^ |

I would play it safe.
Use the Australian passport at all times.
Do a visa ferry run to Japan (it is only about US $210 return on a mid week trip - doesn't cost that much). It can be done in one day you have plenty of time.
Even on their best day, Korean immigration isn't exactly helpful. Give them a complicated or confusing situation like this and it would be just asking for problems. |

Why do you need to proof that you have returned for your pension and income tax refund?
I thought you had to be gone from the country in order for them to give you your pension refund? |
