Quote:
White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs once again dismissed conspiracy theories about the president's citizenship ...

... in his daily briefing Monday, noting that proof of President Obama's birthplace had been posted online and Obama's citizenship had been demonstrated "ad nauseam."

But Gibbs, sounding alternately bemused and exasperated, told White House reporters that conspiracy theories about the president's birthplace would never go away.

"I hate to indulge, in such an august setting as the White House briefing room...the made-up, fictional nonsense whether the president was born in this country," Gibbs said. "If I had some DNA, it wouldn't assuage those who believe he wasn't born here."

Attempting to put the issue to rest, once more, Gibbs assured reporters: "The president was born in Honolulu, in the 50th state of the greatest country on the face of the earth...There are 10,000 more important issues for people in this country to discuss, than whether or not the president is a citizen when it's been proven ad nauseam."

Asked to speculate on why conspiracy theorists continue to fixate on the issue, Gibbs joked: "Because for $15 you can get an Internet address and say whatever you want."

This is quite an interesting issue. I would bet money that it IS a conspiracy theory.

HOWEVER, it seems that there are those in the White House who want to do some investigating into this matter (should that have been done already?). If he was in fact born in the U.S., then Obama and his pink mafia should not have a problem with humoring those who have doubt.

With at least three threads now going on this issue, I would propose the establishment of a sticky thread.

I did not see them.

Good idea, though.

They all ready have humored those who had legitimate doubts. As far as I know, Barack Obama has provided more evidence of his U.S. citizenship than any President in history. Anyone who merely "had doubts" is long since persuaded. There are only two people left who continue to make an issue of this:

1) Ultra-Conservatives.

2) Conspiracy theorists.

Neither group will ever be convinced, regardless of what evidence is provided; the former group is merely acting on political impulse, and the latter group is suffering from what could probably be classified as a psychological disorder. Why on Earth should the Obama Administration waste its time on such individuals?

Yeah, if you believe that Obama wasn't born in Hawaii, you're already having to believe that the state of Hawaii is engaged in a multi-tentacled conspiracy to forge documents. So, even if Obama were to go into the vital-statistics vaults with a gaggle of reporters in tow, and show them the original birth ceriticate, the spam-mail brigade would just say that that document was a fake as well.
