Unfortunately can't give links but keep your eye out for it. Have a close look about 60% of way thru. The main theme is 'Korea Pride.'
As I said, keep an eye out and state here what you see when the Korean guy pushes the white guy.
It's more like 'Korean inferiority complex raises it's head' than pride. Maybe I'm misreading it.
Have a look anyway when you get to see it. |

I also tried to find it online but couldn't.
It's about branding, and the commercial basically says that to improve Korea's brand KoreaNS have to improve the way they treat other people. For example, pushing the foreigner out of the way at the airport, or the lonely foreign worker sitting at the bus stop. All in all it's a good ad, I think.
Kind of similar to the new Denis Kang commercial from a few months back, but I like the Kobaco one better.

So did I but I found out all television commercials in Korea are sold by Korean Advertising Corporation (Kobaco).
This is anti-competitive however it actually results in cheaper television commercials which explains the vast amount of them.
Kobaco ads are like the old community service announcements back home. |

I'm surprised this is being talked about now. I saw this a couple months ago. This shows that Koreans being rude isn't just "culture." They know they are being rude when they are being rude. |

Anyone who dresses like the white boy in the video deserves to be pushed. |

I do enjoy the negative spin that we can put on everything on Dave's! It's all in perspective...I interpreted the commercial in a different way. Rather than seeing it as saying...'look at how rude we are' I thought it was saying 'this behaviour appears rude to foreigners, we need to be more welcoming and polite'. Anyway...maybe I was in too good a mood when I saw it? |

For the last time, the commercial wasn't celebrating rude Koreans. It wasn't saying "hell yeah!" when the Korean pushed the white guy. It's about improving Korea's image abroad by improving the way Koreans act around foreigners.
I've heard there are also ads they show on airplanes to caution Koreans against being rude tourists. That's really more important than worrying about behavior in Korea. They shouldn't ask Koreans to alter their behavior to suit the needs of a very, very small fraction of the population, many of whom don't mind the pushing or crowding. But, reminding people to be respectful when overseas goes a long way. Very few people will visit Korea and will have to deal with rude Koreans---I don't consider Koreans rude, for example, in Korea---but many more Asians are likely to encounter Korean tourists. |

Yeah, but it's usually the older generation that causes all the problems with their rube (not 'rude') mentality. Most of the younger Koreans I meet abroad are pretty fun and laid back. Even the business types I meet in Hong Kong, though they are older, are well mannered.
Mostly you'll encounter the old farts on their "poor tours", where they mass together and tour some of the more poverty stricken areas of 3rd world countries in order to feel better about their own 3rd world country. |
