who would you kill?

*My list of candidates were chosen because I have a fairly liberal, atheist view of the world. I do not intend this topic as a debate about theology or politics, so much as a discussion of who the world (Or at least the world as it effects me) would have been better without.

I'm not quite sure who I would kill.

Hitler would be an obvious option, but there would be some issues. Yes, the holocaust was terrible, as was ww2, but ww2 resulted in some positive things. Europe was transformed into a pretty decent place, the great depression ended, and the US became a superpower(while this isn't necessarily a good thing, it was probably good for Americans).

George W. Bush is another possible one. While he didn't attempt to conquer the world or kill millions of people, he damaged America considerably and helped the economy start on a terrible downward spiral. While he isn't solely responsible, and there were others before him who paved the way for terrible economic policies, Iraq didn't help us out too much.

Constantine and/or Augustine would also be good candidates in my book. Both were important players in helping Christianity become the dominant religion in the west. Without these guys, perhaps there wouldn't have been witch burnings, crusades and various other historic atrocities. Science would most likely be a little further along, and I wouldn't be stopped in the street once or twice a week by proselytizers. On the other hand, without these guys, perhaps I'd have to kill a chicken in order to accept a job.

Confucius is another possible one. Without him, maybe East Asian countries would have decent working conditions, and schools would teach students to utilize critical thinking skills and not use the rote memorization tactics we've all come to love so much. Social levels would be a little more lax, and people could be more natural in family and social settings rather than following strict guidelines with no apparent rationale. On the other hand, a lot of the tenets of Confucianism are present in other philosophies, and Confucianism probably contributed to a lot of the success of both Eastern Asian countries and the English teachers working there. Without Confucianism, there might not have been as much of a drive for Korea, China and Japan to aspire to their current economic status, and without the insane academic zeal, there wouldn't be so much of a drive to bring native English speakers over here to teach.

I'm sure there are many other possible candidates, both modern and ancient, but those stick out in my mind. Who is on your list?

James Huberty aka the "Masillon Mauler." He's the guy who orchestrated the McDonalds massacre in San Ysidro, CA. The bad part is, some Ohioans I've met over the years seem to think its good that one of their own finally put Masillon, OH on the map.

The 20-something year old guy who beat up his girlfriend in front of Nonghyup Bank in front of me. He was kicking her head in. I didn't know what to do because I heard about foreigners getting in trouble for breaking up beatings of women, so I started clapping my hands and cheering him on. (It was the first thing I thought of -- making him "lose face") He got embarrassed and got up in my face and did nothing. The beating stopped. I got told at my workplace that "well, it could have been his wife" as if that is a justification at all. I wish he had never been born. I wish I had had pepper spray on me.

Nietzsche. If I could go back in time, I'd just tell him to write all his texts in English, not German. I wouldn't necessarily kill him.

The first man.

Cancer.

The programmers of Snood.

Fox News.

Chosun Ilbo.

Matthew McConaughey.

Sartre. I wouldn't off him. I'd ask him not to do drugs.

My sister's Differential Equations professor. He made her cry a lot.

The people who stole my first two bicycles in Korea.

The people who are going to steal my next bicycle in Korea.

The men behind the Final Solution.

The producers of most sitcoms.

Depression.

My future wife. Somehow.

Barney.

The Power Rangers.

Bill OReilly.

Rush Limbaugh.

Osama Bin Laden.

Geocities Homepages back in the 90s.

Bad comedians on Comedy Central.

HBO Free Weekend for non-subscribers. I wouldnt kill it. I just wouldnt tease non-subscribers so much with those late, late shows.

Suicide bombers.

Dave Wendy. I wouldnt kill him. I would reanimate his corpse and make him live forever. He was such a sweet man.

Stalin.

Introduction to Linguistics professor.

SPAM gifts and email.

All singing clubs at universities.

AOL.

The programmers behind Yahoo! Games (e.g. Yahoo! Pool) who are almost ruining my social life.

The OP before he started this thread.

Actually, if I could go back in time, I would find out where everone put their money first. Then I would go back in time and get it.

If cheering alone doesn't work, next time grab him by the neck from behind with one arm and shove a knuckle behind his ear lobe with the other hand. That'll drop him to the ground. Then start cheering.

On Osama Bin Laden: Zippy was in 9th grade and had to write a paper on future careers. He chose "Hunting Down Osama Bin Laden". He had the front page article that USA Today had on the FBI profile and Five million dollar reward and carried it around in his pocket folded up like kids do for two weeks while he was writing this paper. This was in March/April 2001, six months before 9/11. I still have that front page and they're still hunting OBL.
