Home Plus, Electronics section, behind the glass counter, costs 25,000 to 100,000 depending on quality. I got some clipppers that work very good for 30,000 won. Worth every penny. |

I had this problem when I first came. I couldn't find a decent set for a good price. There is nothing of value in Yongsan. I went through 3 sets in my first year. What I did find was that the pet shops sell clippers to cut dog's hair. These are pretty good, as dog's hair is generally thicker than ours.
I saw them for 30,000 won.
But, then on one of my trips home I bought a proper set for $30. Best set I ever had. |

Curiosity:
I bought a beard trimmer before my exit this time, nice to have a school where I can be lazy. Anyone seen any extra weare on them if you cut your hair also?
I doubt it as the beard is much thicker, but the alst thing I need to do is start shaving every morning because my trimmer blew out. |

Hay.
Department stores sell them as well. Try to get clippers that have metal on metal blades. Some Korean clippers have plastic on metal which blunts easily, and pulls the hair. These clippers can also be very loud. I spent 70.000W five years ago on imported German clippers bought from a Department store, and I'm still using them.
It can be hard to find machine oil to keep them clean and slick, but WD40 is easy to find. |
