Any idea what items would be restricted for a carry-on bag for flights? Here's what I'm wondering. I have a DLP projector and electronic drum kit packed in my luggage. This puts me slightly over the 50 pound bag allowance. I don't have a carry-on yet, but can't figure out what to put in it. I know laptops are allowed but you're supposed to turn them on. I can't turn the projector on, or the controller for the drum kit. Things like the drum seat, bass pedal, etc.. could possibly be considered weapons. I'm wondering about the rubber drum pads.
Anybody ever travel with a lot of electronics or musical instruments in their luggage or carry-on bag? |

I'm not sure about the electronic part - but a carry on must be able to fit in a small 'box' that measures:

The maximum combined linear measurement (L + W + H) of the carry-on bag is 45 inches (115 cm)up to 14 in x 9 in x 22 in. The maximum weight of the carry-on bag is 40 pounds (18 kg).
