First off, congrats
I got married back in October, and the whole legal side of things was fairly painless.
We processed the legal marriage quite early (in August, but the ceremony was October). Check out the British Embassy website for a detailed list of what to do.
Our process was pretty simple - once we had got the required Korean and British forms together, we made an appointment to go to the British Embassy early in the morning and there we got the forms signed by the Consular representative.
Then we had to go to her Gu-office to register the documents with the Korean government. and finally return to the British Embassy to get them endorsed by the Consular representative.
And that was it - we started at about 10am and everything was sorted by about 3pm (could have done it quicker if we didn't take so long for lunch ), so you'll probably need a day off work if you're going to do it. Of course, I think you could spread the process out over several days if you want to.
The British embassy will do everything for you with regards to getting the marriage registered in the UK, so you don't need to worry about that.
If you want to find out more about the ceremony or see some of our pictures, then send me a PM... |
