So I know this is a bit of a random question, but some friends and I are planning to celebrate Thanksgiving, and we were hoping that there is SOMEWHERE in Daegu that might sell turkey. A real turkey would be great, but it would have to be small.. I have a giant toaster oven but not big enough for a 20 pound turkey or something. Turkey breasts would be great too.
I've looked at Emart, Home Plus, Costco.. Anyone have any suggestions? Someone told me that I can actually shop for food online and it could be here in a day.. I'm just not sure how to go about it.
Thanks for any help!

The best thing I can suggest is get to Dejeon and go to Costco. Better if you know someone that has a membership and have them come with you. You can buy a full size american/canadian turkey. But it is not cheap, bought one every year there and it seems to set me back about 80k every time. But it is worth every bite. The turkey pot pie we make with the extras is amazing.

Best of luck!

There is a costco in Daegu you know. It's in Bok-Kyun dong. Ask around once you get there and someone should be able to point you in the right direction.

You can't take the subway there, so you either have to cab or bus it (unless you have your own car...but if you did I'm sure you'd have been there many times.)

It's not as good as the Daejon or Seoul costcos, but I'm pretty sure they will have some big birds there.

I bought an oven from G-Market 18 months ago for 70,000 won. Best buy I ever made. Should easily fit a turkey as it holds two chickens comfortably.

They DO raise turkeys in Korea. Have someone in your school call around and see if they can find a farmer who sells them. I got one a couple of years ago. Arrived at my door in a styrofoam container filled with ice and the turkey!

And yeah, I've got an oven. Best investment I've made in Korea.

I go to the Daegu Costco every week and I haven't ever found a turkey Sad
They only even have 1 kind of turkey breast lunchmeat.

I've never seen Turkey at Daegu CostCo.

It's worth the 1 hour trip to Daejeon if you really need one. I'm just worried that when I do go, they'll be sold out on any given weekend. Sad

They would have it closer to US thanksgiving. Beware, the sizes can be prohibitive.

the only time that i have seen turkeys at costco in yangjae or sangdong was around us thanksgiving like xz said.

davepuff, i bought that same exact convec/toaster oven over 3 years ago. it has been used a lot and is still going strong. i recommend it too.

i bought a cajun breast last year at red door in itaewon. it sufficed. i'll most likely do the same again this year.

I have already been to Costco, they said they will only have the turkey around Christmas time, unfortunately.
To the person who said that they had a turkey delivered.. do you remember the number you used?

No, sorry...and I'm far from Daegu anyway. Have a Korean speaker look on Naver and see what you can find.

I checked Gmarket, but they don't have any. They DO have cranberry sauce, though!

FYI, the Daegu Pockets team will be organizing a Thanksgiving dinner (US date). Likely at Novotel, but still working on details. Will let you know here and on our FB group (Daegu Friendship Club).

PS. Daegu Costco has had turkeys before, but its extremely hit/miss.

The USO (near the US Army base in Yongsan) always puts on a traditional Thanksgiving lunch ( available to all nationalities - get there before 2:00 pm, if memory serves correct - Google USO - Seoul November menu/Thanksgiving, etc.)

About 8,000-10,000 won, as I recall (last year I had one for lunch and took two home for later).
