I know it's last minute, but I have an interview with SMOE in a couple hours, and was hoping to get some suggestions from any of you folks that have successfully made it through the process. If you can offer up any potential pitfalls as well, I would greatly appreciate it.

Also, I was told that I would probably be asked "how do you teach a student that is unwilling to learn?"

I could not find that information anywhere in my online TEFL course.

Please Help!!!

I thank you for all your insight in advance.

Don't get too stressed out over it. I don't know if this is too late now, though. From what I can remember, they asked me the following:

1) My teaching style/philosophy

2) How will I cope with a new culture (I had already been in Korea for 2 years, so this was skimmed over).

3) My thoughts on co-teaching.

4) Why did I choose elementary?

5) Discussed my past experience, what age group, what sorts of things I taught, etc.

That's all I remember. It wasn't big deal except for the teaching philosophy which I think you had to write about in the initial application already. I don't remember them asking about problem or unmotivated students, but I guess every interview could be different. I remember talking about positive reinforcement quite a bit. Smiling, high-fiving, lots of compliments. Just be enthusiastic without being weird and it should be fine.

Hope this helps.
